Academicians Pro-Israel Committee (APIC)
The image of Israel in the world has reached a new low. Anti-Semitism is growing in front of our eyes. Europe is now blaming Israel for possible war crimes and for being one of the main reasons for expansion of radical Islam. This alarming phenomenon is not exclusive to Europe. Latest events show anti Jewish and anti Israeli sentiments in the North America as well. The main focus of the social media and the major news networks is the Israeli - Palestinian conflict where only the Palestinians are being identified as victims. University students in the U.S. and particularly in Florida have a distorted view of the only democracy in the Middle East. Everyone forgets the fact that of the 300 million Arabs in the Middle East and North Africa, less than half a percent are truly free - and they are all citizens of Israel. Israeli Arabs are some of the most educated Arabs in the world. They belong among the leading physicians and surgeons in the country, they are elected to the Israeli parliament, and they serve as judges on the Supreme Court. Millions of men and women in the Middle East would welcome these opportunities.
Many Jewish associations exist in the US, most of which perform pro-Israel activities to Israeli and Jewish communities.
Academicians Pro-Israel Committee (APIC) is a non-profit organization affiliated to the Florida Israel Friendship League.
All members of APIC are 100% volunteers with the mission to change Israel’s image among the people in Florida and the US. Most fellows of APIC are of dual American and Israeli citizenship and all share both American and Israeli values.
We believe in mutual respect among all faiths and religions and that the main efforts of pro-Israeli advocacy should be directed to the non-Jewish communities. We are certain that educating these communities through open discussions, conferences and lectures may change how non-Jews view Israel, with the ultimate goal to reduce anti-Semitism, fanaticism and extremism.
